Optimal PID and fuzzy logic based position controller design of an overhead crane using the Bees Algorithm

Abstract Different industrial applications frequently use overhead cranes for moving and lifting huge loads. It applies to civil construction, metallurgical production, rivers, seaports. The primary purpose of this paper is control the motion/position crane using a PID controller Genetic Algorithms (GA) Bee (BA) as optimization tools. Moreover, Fuzzy Logic modified Controller applied obtain better parameters. mathematical model uses an analytical method, employs Simulink in MATLAB. presents parameters determination with different approach. development membership functions, fuzzy rules employ toolbox. Both inputs outputs triangular functions. result shows that optimized value Ziegler-Nichols approach time-consuming will provide only initial However, obtained method GA BA reached target values. results logic (0.227% overshoot) show improvement overshoot than conventional (0.271% overshoot).
